Owls - what is the significance?

I had the weirdest experience this morning. Driving to work across country I came around a bend and there on the side of the road 4 barn owls stood there. They all seemed to turn to face me and flew off in unison. It kind of disturbed me

I saw (or I heard of) a tv documentary that explained the conspiracy that owls are aliens in disguise.
