My landlord is raising my renewal rent by $200/month.
Not even for the whole complex, just for me, specifically. I rented for $1410 a month a year and eight months ago, and that was a 12 month lease. Eight months ago, my landlord offers me the same rate, but I opt for $1610 a month on a 10 month lease because I think I might end up moving out.
Just now, my landlord sent me a new lease, where the 10 month option is $1633 and the 12 month option is $1610. I don't want a 10 month lease anymore. I want a 12 month lease. I'm going to try to negotiate down, but that may well be impossible. If I can't do it, I'm probably just gonna move into a different (and smaller) unit with the same complex... and if they won't even let me do that for a more reasonable rate, I'll find another landlord. They can go fuck themselves for this; it's just so disrespectful.
