How often do you go grocery shopping?

My wife usually goes two or three times a week. While she does the most shopping every Sunday, it seems she either forgets something or miscalculates how much of something we have, but we run out before the week is up. It's usually things like, milk, coffee, bread......which means an extra trip. It's crazy, because I know people that swear they go once every couple weeks! How about you?

there's the grocery store for everyday items, Aldi's for their specials, the Italian Market (a must), the butcher shop for my meats and the seafood market it I'm planning a fish meal

@saragoodtimes Hell yeah! My kind of woman. We actually just had an Aldi's built last year but my wife refuses to shop there! I just don't get her. I'm guessing you get fresh meats and seafood? I used to do that and the difference is very noticeable.
@WizardofOz their brand is just as good as national brand, ice cream is the best ( 1/2 gallons) sandwiches and their new fudge bars are great) chips and snacks can't be beat. veggies are so good too

@saragoodtimes my dad does all his shopping there, except for certain meats. I went there with him once and bought eggs, bread, milk, butter, among other things and there was absolutely no difference in quality, other than saving a ton of money. They even have weekly deals on big items! The time I was there, they had a nice generator I was thinking about buying. 🤣

@saragoodtimes we’re getting an Aldi at the end of summer. So excited.
@WizardofOz try their soups, not a lot of variety but as good as Campbell's, sugar is always cheaper than the supermarket, don't forget to check their nut section cashews always a good price and a pound of pistachios for $4.99
@brian29715 a Lidl opened here a few months ago but haven't checked it out yet

@saragoodtimes I did get mushroom soup, we have it over rice and stuffing. I also bought stuffing and some canned veggies. It was all really good. My wife just has a ridiculous problem with "off" brands! It's because of her mom, she's a snob and raised her daughter that way. Lol
@WizardofOz Aldi is a multi billion dollar company that sells mostly private label products. the national brands hate missing out on this segment of the industry so most will pack for Aldi. they can sell cheaper because they don't have to pay for labels, cans, a sales force or advertising. it's the same product only in different packaging try their ketchup, mustard and BBQ sauces absolutely as good as any on the market

@saragoodtimes Thanks for all this info. I'm gonna start going there.
@WizardofOz there are subtle signs who's packing for them. BBQ sauce will have Sweet Baby Ray's next to it, cereal will have some Post cereals, snack cake will have hostess and some tastycake items
@saragoodtimes I avoid Aldi's, even though their boxed and canned items are reasobably priced, their produce isn't exactly the freshest, and their dairy, meat, and bakery items, need a bank loan to afford.
@NativePortlander1970 same at most supermarkets. $5 for 2 cake slices, bread at $3.69, eggs and butter are higher than Aldi
@saragoodtimes Their sourdough is now over $5, it used to be $1.79 before BinBiden, a green pepper went soft by that night, at least they finally started selling real chocolate instead of chocolate flavored, an 8oz package of sliced muenster was almost $5, and a two pack of 5oz bacon wrapped sirloin medallions were almost $10. I rarely eat eggs anymore since the 2015 bird flu epidemic, and I only get butter on sale, but lasts me awhile, the last pound I bought lasted almost two months.
@NativePortlander1970 a good cheesecake from a specialty baker is crazy

@saragoodtimes How they stay in business is a mystery, I get a small variety cheesecake from Walmart maybe every 15 to 18 months, they're about $8 or so, their large one is $14 when I was there yesterday.
@NativePortlander1970 but this is made fresh. store cheesecakes come in frozen and are defrosted on a as needed basis
@saragoodtimes The most I ever paid for a fresh cheesecake was at the Amish booth at the Boothwyn, PA farmer's market, it was $15 for a 9inch
