Great idea to show how 'net-zero' electric vehicles are NOT !

Top idea for charging EV's in the true railway net-zero way. Take a redundant diesel locomotive that still works, park it somewhere, and start it up every time someone wants to park (and charge) their new F150 Lightning or Tesla Cybertruck or similar while at work.

All the vehicle owner has to pay for is the metered diesel fuel consumed by the locomotive engine when running to power the adjacent 350 kW EV (ish) charger that can support charging up to two EV's at the same time. Then have a special fuel measurement system to accurately record fuel usage and employee can be charged that as a non-tax-deductable levy on his or her next pay cycle.

The catch of course is that if more than one employee wants to charge their EV at the same time the output of the charger is limited because of the power input feed but then you just take more 'notches' on the diesel (just like a regular locomotive throttle handle) via the special controller linked to the engine governor with the offset of using more fuel which means you pay more to charge either quicker or 'compete' with other EV owners for electricity from the source.

This is basically what every 'recovery' company saving people when their EV's run out of charge on the highways of Australia will be doing, but with a smaller diesel powered generator. 8-) It's fully net-zero as the energy for recharging comes from a different 'location' to the physical footprint of where the EV is currently located so it's 'good for the planet' as the energy used to recharge 'comes from somewhere else' so the electrons pushed through the wires are 'presumed to be coloured green'. Totally out-of-sight therefore out-of-mind. 8-)

True virtue-signalling!
The small EVs that can run on solar panels on top would make sense if you also had mass transit and some urban planning for green results. Then there's car -merica.
