Did you love going to the video store?

Remember those?? To rent movies on the weekend? 馃槅

Ohhh the fun...the hour roaming every title. Looking for the new racks. I miss those days..馃幀

Oh the search was so long and painful, especially since everyone had to agree. And then early on, we even had to rent the VCR because we didn't own one yet. Be Kind, Rewind!

@Musicman So very dramatically
Musicman61-69, M
@come2gether How do you like those OLED TV's?
come2gether41-45, M
@Musicman They have a great picture. However, I don't own a TV, sold mine over a decade ago because of streaming services.
SumKindaMunster51-55, M
I don't.

Spending 30 minutes looking for your 1st choice...its out....2nd choice...its not here either...what about that indie movie that everyone was talking about...nope.

Fine I will watch this crummy "blockbuster" that everyone has seen.

Netflix was so much better and rightly killed this inefficient business model.

Yes, would go to the ATM to get some cash Friday after work. Go get groceries, go to the video store next door and select 4 videos to rent for the weekend (they always had a special)鈥o home put everything up, have dinner and start binging on movies. Those were the good old days.

Yes! The Hunt was an amazing way to end the work day and begin the weekend.

I remember looking at everything and seldom finding anything I wanted to see.

Now, I find obscure or older movies on YouTube, which I can get on my cable TV streaming feature. Last night I watched Marooned, a story about a low Earth orbit space mission. I do not want to say more since I might spoil the plot. It has some famous actors.

I miss record stores even more than video stores. You cant shop in a specialized store for these things anymore - just Target and WalMart.
I remember how excited I was when Blockbuster opened a store in my neighborhood. Think my lady parts even tingled a little. 馃き

My ideal job was working for blockbuster... But they shut down before I had the chance...
TheFragile46-50, M
Hell yes! One of my favorite things to do in the 90's.
Musicman61-69, M
@TheFragile It was always fun going. 馃檪

When I was a kid, I always gravitated to this Movie Poster...Every time we went to the movie store... The clerk noticed and rolled up the poster and gave it to me to post it up in my bedroom! After that I always asked for old posters that they weren't using anymore from various movie stores and we got them for free! As kids!
Coralmist41-45, F
@saintsong Wow that is epic!! I am jealous!
Yeah....

Now we just "roam" HULU or NETFLIX.........
OverTheHill56-60, M

I remember the very first movie that we ever rented when we bought our first VCR...It was about a baby Brontosaurs, not a cartoon...Also another movie that stood out was Legend 1985.
caPnAhab26-30, M
I used to go to the library to borrow movies. I hope libraries can stick around for much longer
Coralmist41-45, F
@caPnAhab I loan movies at my library often!
caPnAhab26-30, M
@Coralmist I actually haven't in a while. I want to find more reasons to go

Used to take us about 45 minutes to bike to the video store. I always liked the chance to do so.
